Beatification of Carlo Acutis: From Computers to Sainthood

The Extraordinary Life of a Common Boy

Via Ariosto 21 - 20145 Milano - Italia

Carlo Acutis, a devout Catholic teenager from Italy, lived an exceptional life despite his brief existence. Born in 1991, Carlo's passion for computers and technology was evident from a young age. However, it was his unwavering faith and devotion to God that truly set him apart.

Despite being diagnosed with leukemia in 2006, Carlo remained optimistic and used his illness to inspire others. He spent his final months creating a website documenting Eucharistic miracles and promoting the importance of prayer and the sacraments. On October 10, 2006, at the age of 15, Carlo passed away, leaving behind a legacy of faith and service.

Recognition as a Blessed

October 10, 2020

In recognition of Carlo's extraordinary life and witness, Pope Francis beatified him on October 10, 2020. This was the first step towards canonization, a process by which the Catholic Church declares a person a saint. To qualify for canonization, a deceased individual must be recognized as having lived a life of heroic virtue and having performed two miracles.

Second Miracle Approved

May 23, 2024

On May 23, 2024, Pope Francis recognized the second miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Carlo Acutis. This miracle involved the healing of a young Brazilian boy suffering from a pancreatic anomaly. With the confirmation of this second miracle, the path for Carlo's canonization is now clear.

Caution Regarding Relics

It is important to note that the Catholic Church has received reports of relics of Blessed Carlo Acutis that do not meet the canonical requirements and do not comply with the established norms. Individuals should exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any relics they encounter.
